An initial consultation is usually an hour. Richard does not differentiate between Herbalism and Nutrition as both may be integrated to find the best solution for the particular clients problem.
A full history is taken and all pharmaceuticals and supplements that the person is presently on is noted. Conventional tests such as blood pressure, cholesterol and glucose may be done if this deemed necessary. Other tests such as urine analysis, iridology and pulse point intolerance testing can also be performed to get the fullest picture of the patients state of health. Food diarys may be something else that can be used to gain insight.
At the end of this suggestions as to nutritional changes, and herbal remedies will be made often alongside simple home remedies that the person can do for themselves. All options are discussed with the patient and Richard's approach is to help the person understand what is happening in their bodies in straightforward terms and then the reason for the suggested protocol. An understanding of whats happening can often help people to reach better health quicker and avoid detrimental actions.
The patient is encouraged to keep in contact and further appointments can be made as required, however after the initial consultation this can be by phone or skype if necessary although 1 to 1 is always better if at all possible.
