Marigold -Calendula officinalis
A happy new year if a belated one, and why Marigold? It is the World Herb Association herb of the year and so how better to start the year. (Even if it is February).
The beautiful golden yellow flowers are one of the most versatile and important herbs. It is paramount as a healing herb and is used topically in creams on wounds, sores, ulcers , abscesses etc.
Internally it should be taken after all internal operations, and is also widely used for gastric and duodenal ulcers, and inflammed gallbladder.
It is taken as tincture and in capsules but one of the best forms, and easiest for home use, is as a tea. Get either high quality tea bags or why not use the loose petals and florets. 1 to 2 teaspoons in a mug of boiling water left for 10 to 15 minutes, strain, and drink slowly.
If youve had an operation why not try it. Or if you know someone who has, take them some and help them heal faster!
